CU*iP conferences encourage applications from undergraduate physics majors. We specifically encourage applications from:
Women and/or gender minorities
Students who would like to present research at the conferences
Community college students
Students who have not attended previously
Depending on availability of attendance slots, we may also prioritize physics and engineering physics majors.
Canadian applicants may apply to attend the conference site in Canada.
Unfortunately, high school students and students under 18 years old are unable to attend these conferences.
If you are a faculty member, chaperone or other non-undergraduate who wishes to attend the CU*iP Boulder, please email us at cuwipboulder@colorado.edu by December 4th.
You will need an APS account to apply to attend. If you don't already have one, create an APS account before applying. If you are not already an APS member, you will receive a complimentary student membership unless you opt-out.
After you have been accepted to the conference (congratulations!), you will need to register with the host site and pay the $45 registration fee to confirm your spot and arrange further details for your travel, lodging, and participation in the conference.
Please see the FAQ for more answers to commonly asked questions.
If your department is not covering the registration fee, and the $45 fee is causing financial hardship, you may request a fee waiver by contacting women@aps.org to request a registration fee waiver form. Please note, fee waiver requests must be made by December 2nd, 2024 by 5 PM ET.
Application to CU*iP, no matter what site, is handled through the centralized APS application form (learn more on the Apply page). Participants are then allocated to the most suitable site among the following:
California Polytechnic State University
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory
University of Virginia
